FRIENDS OF FAR WEST CENTER

Friends of Far West Center comprises individuals and organizations dedicated to the support of the Center, a non-profit mental health organization located on the campus of St. John's West Shore Hospital.

Friends of Far West Center was created in May 1979 and elected its first board of Trustees in November the same year. Incorporation of the organization was established in 1980; IRS awarded on-profit designation at about the same time.

The Friends focus public attention on the Far West Center, stimulate use of the Center's resources and facilities, encourage contributions to further the benevolent support of the Center and support the development of services, facilities and programs for the Center for the community it serves.

To provide the financial assistance necessary to support Far West Center, as provided in the Friends bylaws, an educational theme has been developed over the years resulting in workshops designed to promote mental health wellness for all who may be interested. These workshops, and other activities, are open to the public.

Although some formal meetings are held at various locations on the west side, information about Friends can be obtained by calling Far West Center at 835-6212. You will be referred to a board member who will be more than happy to give you additional information about the organization.
