Dottie O’Neill honored as Rocky River Senior Center Volunteer of the Year
Dorothy (Dottie) O’Neill was honored as the Senior Center’s 2010 Volunteer of the Year. Dottie has lived in Rocky River for almost 71 years. She is serving her second term on Rocky River Seniors Council, Inc. and is the current President. Dottie coordinates the Senior Center’s Winter Financial Series, drawing on her background of 39 years as a securities trader.
Dottie volunteers at the Center to assist on Flu Shot Day, the Harvest Holiday Craft and Quilt Show, the 90th Birthday Celebration and volunteers in the Senior Center kitchen. Dottie is a volunteer in the Center’s Gift Shop, the Play Readers group, coordinates the table setting group for special luncheons, and has assisted in the Family Game Week Kick Off held at the Center. Dottie is a member of the Rocky River Community Emergency Response team (CERT).

Director Calladine stated, “Dottie is such a willing volunteer. She will take any task, do it quickly cheerfully and well. Dottie loves to meet new people and be involved wherever she is needed.”
Rocky River Senior Center’s “Hats Off to You!” Volunteer Recognition Luncheon honored the 171 volunteers who contributed 15,352 hours of service at the Center in 2010. Magician Manny Sperling entertained the group before the luncheon. Director Calladine and Mayor Pamela Bobst addressed the volunteers and their guests. Volunteer Coordinator Kathy Gibel distributed the awards.
